On January 13, in the Pozharsky District of Primorsky Territory, Russia the tiger cub, estimated to be around 5 to 7 months old, was found close to death after poachers shot the poor feline in the face.
The bullet tore into the cubs skull and caused serious damage to it's eyes.
The innocent baby was immediately taken to the Center of Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals in the village of Alekseyevka, a town in Belgorod Oblast, Russia, located on the Tikhaya Sosna River
The fact that the cub sustained such serious injuries that some are calling the wounded animal survival a miracle. According to the center's experts, the poachers' bullet brought the little predator to the brink of death.
Due to the tiger's injury, its' eyelids were traumatized, stuck together and inflamed. "The wound was treated and the inflammation was removed. The surgeon also straightened the nasal septal bones to improve the tiger's breathing, and set the jaw," Aramilev said.
When the tiger finishes it's rehabilitation, it will be released into the wild. In the meantime, police have opened a criminal case and are looking for the individual and/or individuals that illegally shot this poor animal.
A reward of 150,000 rubles ($2,500) was offered for any information that would lead to the capture of the poacher(s)
