Video: Crocodile Brutally Attacks Young Elephant
Visitors at the Liwonde National Park in Malawi, East Africa, were horrified when a young elephant was attacked by a crocodile.
The Wildlife Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the regions due to its diverse animal population.
Liwonde includes quite large numbers of elephants and it's the main river attracts countless hippos and crocodiles. Antelope include kudu, sable, and bushbuck. There are leopards and hyena and the occasional visiting lion. Recently Black rhino's have been re-introduced into the area.
A visitor to the park just happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch the rarely seen confrontation between two of the most famous wildlife animals.
The young Elephant seemed to be getting a drink when the stealthy croc suddenly burst out of the water, clamping down onto the youngster's highly sensitive trunk with its vice-like jaws.
Its trunk locked in the beast's mouth, the scared elephant tried to dislodge the predator's grip by lifting it out of the water and swinging it around.
Luckily, one of the older elephants came storming in and helped free the panicked youngster.
