![]() In an article written by Brooke Crum that appears in the Abilene Reporter-News part of the USA today newspaper network. This reporter is celebrating the fact that Shrine Circus offers elephant and camel rides, unfortunately she does not know how clueless she is.
Elephants, camels, and other animals that circuses use to profit from do not stand on their heads, jump through hoops, or balance on pedestals or walk around in a endless circle with giggling children and adults on their back because they want to. They perform these and other difficult tricks because they’re afraid of what will happen if they don’t. In her story Brooke wrote "Janis, the 38-year-old Asian elephant, did her duty calmly, steadily walking in a circle so youngsters could enjoy a ride on her back." Did this reporter even ask "How do you get the elephant to do this? Why are they not rejecting having a saddle on? How did you get this wild animal to become so docile? No! She and most moron reporters writing these newspaper puff pieces are clueless and most wish to remain that way. To force animals to perform, circus trainers abuse them with whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks (heavy batons with a sharp steel hook on one end), and other painful tools of the circus trade. Circuses easily get away with such routine cruelty because the government doesn’t monitor training sessions and handlers are cautious when they’re in public. Amazingly on her twiiter account @BrookeCrum_ARN, Brook declares herself a Feminist. an Investigative reporter & government multimedia journalist @ReporterNews, part of @USATODAY network. @TCUalumna. Email: brooke.crum@reporternews.com This investigative reporter should actually do a little investigation and start educating herself on the horror and inhumane treatment of circus animals. I have to wonder what story Brooke will be writing next? "Salves didn't have it that bad, after all they had free food and housing." Since Brooke is a 'Feminist' she can write "Barefoot and Pregnant the stress free life of a stay at home housewife" Contact information for these people and businesses to explain that animals have rights and we will no longer accept people using wildlife for profit or slavery Brookes Email brooke.crum@reporternews.com Brookes twiiter account @BrookeCrum_ARN, In an effort to help this reporter educate herself here are some links to stories we have done and a video she can start with
