History doesn't tell us how far back pet-keeping goes.We know that thousands of years ago, our ancestors likely kept some wolves around. 

They may have captured them young, domesticated them and found that they were useful for hunting.

Gradually they became tamer companions and evolved into dogs. But ever since, humans have had dogs around, as pets, they became so much more than just playthings that we kept around top entertain us... They became part of our family.

Eventually, Cats became another member our family and since then most of us can't imagine going through life's ups and downs without having a furry family member around to help us get through the rough spots in life and there to celebrate when life is great.
