Downey, CA - Wildlife Planet has reported on thousands of stories and while we think we have seen it all... along comes Zuzu.
Zuzu a two-year-old German shepherd, along with her biological father had been living a happy life in California as a family pet.
As we're all too aware, when things are going great... Life throws you a curve-ball. Zuzu's life changed quickly when her dad passed away .
The once happy, excitable pup went into a deep depression, just as any human would do if they suddenly lost their dad. A depressed and “crying” Zuzu broke loose into the neighbor's yard who did not know who this sad dog belonged to.
The neighbor did the right thing and called their local animal control and Zuzu was taken to the Downey Animal Care Center in Downey, CA.
So far this is a story that has been repeated a billion times on not only WildlifePlanet.net but every other sites that cover dogs and pets as well.
But then of course life throws us that wicked curve-ball.
As it often happens with shelter animals, Zuzu went through an array of emotions being in a place she had never imagined she would have been in just a few days earlier. She may have even thought of the possibility that she would never see her family again.
Zuzu continued to run through her emotional gambit when, as life often does, throws us a curve-ball.
Hearing a car door open in the parking lot outside the shelters viewing cage, a family arrived at the shelter to adopt a dog. But, this wasn't any ordinary family this was Zuzu's family “lit up like Christmas” after realizing they came to take her home.
“She looked like the happiest dog. Yeah, she’s going home,” a volunteer at the shelter named Desi wrote on Facebook.
Ready to put her shelter life behind her, Zuzu yelped as her beloved owners stuck their hands through the fence to pat the overjoyed pooch.
But, as life often does, it throws us a curve-ball.
They family, even after knowing their dog was here, didn't bother taking her home, they were here to adopt a new dog.
“Their reason was because she was crying and sad since her father passed away. She wasn’t a happy dog anymore,” Desi wrote on Facebook.
“Their solution for her unhappiness was just leaving her here. And go get another dog.”
Understandably shocked, Desi shared Zuzu’s heartbreaking story on Facebook acquiring thousands of reactions expressing their dismay at the cold hearted antics of Zuzu’s ex-family.
“Put them on the list of banned people. Don’t let them take home someone else,” Renee Capozucca wrote on Facebook.
All hope is not lost for Zuzu, she has been taken in by a rescue organisation who will find her an “exceptional” home according to Desi.
“We get so many wonderful dogs and we get so many backstories, good and bad,” she said. “It surprises me which threads take off and the others don’t.”
Sometimes a story just hit you and while it happens a lot here at Wildlife Planet for us this was really it.
We have contacted the shelter because we would love to give Zuzu a forever home, I am sure thousands will want this precious baby as well. But if we are lucky enough to be chosen she will know nothing but love and happiness for the rest of her life.
Even if we don't like to Zuzu deserves a great home so if you feel you are worthy enough here is the link to the Downey Animal Care Center | Facebook page.
